GoldSignalCopier v1.10 for MetaTrader 4 – Install Guide
This robot (Expert Advisor, "EA") copies trading signals from our Telegram bot into your MetaTrader 4 account: gold & silver, forex pairs (EURUSD, GBPJPY …) and crypto (BTCUSD, ETHUSD, SOLUSD …). Indices, oil and stocks are not copied. It works exactly like the MT5 version (same server, same settings, same safety checks). For MetaTrader 5 use GoldSignalCopier.ex5 and MT5 install guide instead.
You need:
- MetaTrader 4 on a Windows PC or a VPS (the PC must stay on for the robot to work).
-
Your API key (starts with
gc_). Get it from the Telegram bot @SignalCopier_ProBot with/newkey MyAccount. You can use the same key in MT4 and MT5, but do not run both on the same account. - The file GoldSignalCopier.ex4.
Step 1 – Copy the file
- Open MetaTrader 4.
- Click File → Open Data Folder. A folder opens.
- Open the folder MQL4, then the folder Experts.
- Copy GoldSignalCopier.ex4 into this Experts folder.
- Go back to MetaTrader 4. In the Navigator window (Ctrl+N), right-click Expert Advisors and click Refresh. You will now see GoldSignalCopier in the list.
Step 2 – Allow the server address (very important)
- Click Tools → Options.
- Open the tab Expert Advisors.
- Tick Allow automated trading.
- Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL.
-
Click the + / "add new URL" line and type exactly:
http://46.101.230.128 - Click OK.
If you skip this step the robot shows "URL NOT ALLOWED (error 4060)" on the chart. MT4 only allows the standard web ports 80 and 443 – keep the Server URL exactly as given.
Step 3 – Turn on AutoTrading
Click the AutoTrading button on the top toolbar. It must show a green play icon (not a red stop icon).
Step 4 – Attach the robot to a chart
- Open any chart (for example XAUUSD, M1). The chart symbol does not matter – the robot trades every signal on the matching symbol of your broker (it finds names like XAUUSDm, BTCUSD.r, EURUSD# itself).
- Drag GoldSignalCopier from the Navigator onto the chart.
- In the window that opens, on the Common tab, tick Allow live trading.
- Open the Inputs tab.
Step 5 – Enter your API key
- Double-click the value next to API key (gc_...) and paste your key.
-
Leave Server URL as
http://46.101.230.128. - Click OK.
The lines that start with === in the inputs list are only headings (MT4 has no input groups) – leave them as they are.
A status text appears at the top-left of the chart. Check that it says:
- GoldSignalCopier v1.10 (MT4)
- status: CONNECTED
-
Assets: what the robot copies (for example
metals forex crypto) - Last signal symbol: the symbol of the last signal and what happened to it
- Trading: ALLOWED
A smiling face at the top-right of the chart means the robot is running.
Only use one chart with the robot for each account.
Settings
All inputs have the same names, labels and defaults as the MT5 version – see the tables in MT5 install guide ("All inputs", "What is a pip for each market?") and the Urdu summary in Urdu page.
Recommended for a first DEMO test:
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Lot sizing mode | Fixed lot |
| Fixed lot | 0.01 |
| Max total lot per signal | 0.10 |
| Multi-TP handling | Split: one order per TP |
| Max orders per signal | 3 |
| Move SL to breakeven when TP1 is reached | true |
| Skip open signals older than (sec) | 90 |
| Max open orders (market + pending) of this EA | 10 |
| Stop new trades after daily loss % | 5 |
Weekend crypto test (for example BTCUSD on a 1000 USD demo): Copy crypto = true, Only these symbols = BTCUSD, Lot sizing mode = Risk % of balance, Risk % = 0.5, Max total lot per signal = 0.05. Check first that your MT4 account type offers BTCUSD (open Market Watch → right-click → Symbols); not every broker/account has crypto on MT4.
How MT4 differs from MT5 (good to know)
- Every trade is its own order ("ticket") – MT4 has no netting mode, so "Split: one order per TP" always works: a signal with TP1, TP2, TP3 opens 3 orders with the same SL and one TP each.
- Partial close: MT4 closes part of an order by giving the rest a new ticket (comment "from #…"). The robot follows this automatically – later "close", "breakeven" and "move SL" messages still find the rest of the trade.
- ECN / market-execution accounts: if your broker does not accept SL/TP when the order is opened, the robot opens the order and sets SL/TP immediately after. If the SL cannot be set, the order is closed again (a copied trade is never left without its stop loss) and the reason is shown under "Last error".
- Lot size in Risk mode is calculated from your broker's tick value, tick size and contract size for that symbol (MODE_TICKVALUE, MODE_TICKSIZE, MODE_LOTSIZE). If the broker gives no tick value for a symbol, a risk-based signal is skipped instead of guessing ("skipped: volume", reason in the Experts log). Free margin is checked with AccountFreeMarginCheck before each trade; the lot is reduced if the margin is not enough.
- Same magic number default (20261003) as MT5. If you move from MT5 to MT4 the robot starts fresh (the MT4 terminal has its own memory): only new signals are copied.
- Error codes differ: "URL NOT ALLOWED" is error 4060 in MT4 (4014 in MT5).
Good to know
- The robot only trades new signals. Old signals are not copied when you start it for the first time.
- If MT4 is closed for a while, the robot continues from where it stopped. Signals older than 90 seconds are skipped.
- Close / partial close / breakeven / SL-TP changes from the channel are done automatically, only on the orders the robot opened. "Close BTC" closes only bitcoin orders.
- The robot does not touch your manual orders or other robots' orders (it uses its own magic number).
-
Exness: Standard/Cent accounts use names with
m/c(XAUUSDm, BTCUSDm); Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts use plain names. If the panel shows "skipped: no symbol", add an entry to Symbol map, for exampleXAUUSD=GOLD. - The robot cannot run in the Strategy Tester (it needs the internet connection to our server).
Problems?
| On the chart you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| URL NOT ALLOWED (error 4060) | Do Step 2 again. The address must be exactly http://46.101.230.128. Then remove and attach the robot again. |
| INVALID API KEY | Copy the key again from Telegram. Make sure there are no spaces. |
| PAUSED - AutoTrading button is OFF | Click the AutoTrading button so it is green. |
| PAUSED - 'Allow live trading' is not ticked | Press F7 on the chart, Common tab, tick Allow live trading. |
| NO CONNECTION | Check the internet connection of the PC / VPS. |
| NEW TRADES STOPPED (daily loss limit) | The daily loss limit was reached. New trades start again the next day. |
| Last signal: ... skipped: no symbol | Your broker has no such symbol, or a different name: add it to Symbol map. |
| Last signal: ... skipped: spread / market closed | Normal (weekend, news). Gold and forex do not trade at the weekend. |
| Last signal: ... skipped: volume | SL too wide for your balance and risk %, broker gives no tick value, or max lot / margin too small. Check the Experts log. |
| Last signal: ... skipped: prices vs broker | The signal prices are far from your broker's price (wrong symbol or typo). Nothing was traded. |
| Last error: SL/TP could not be set ... closed again for safety | Your broker rejected the stop loss (too close / freeze level). Nothing stays open. |
